Beamer Falls Grimsby Ontario May 2011
« Thread Started on May 8, 2011, 7:08pm »

Saturday, May 7th, 2k11 ... it was a fairly nice day, so we decided to take a run out to this set of waterfalls which are located on the Niagara Escarpment, also known as the Hamilton Mountain.

It's a matter of taking the QEW out to the turnoff at Christie - up Mountain Road, a right along 'Ridge' to a parking lot that reaches out onto the top of the waterfall.

In order to really see it, we were told by a couple, we had to back down Mountain, to another parking lot on the west side of gorge.

That enabled us to see the upper part of the waterfall, as well as the lower.

You more or less have to go on the other side of the guard rails to get the full effect of the gorge ...

Now here's me ... all through the winter, my waterfall visits have been 'Thank You For Flying Google Airlines'. Here I am now - SPRING! Time to start visiting some of these sites up close and IN PERSON!

Jeff set out on the path to get closer to the base of the falls ...

It's not the most dangerous trek in the world, but you need to be cautious. It's pretty rugged and there are no rails.

For experienced hikers, I imagine it's nothing more than a trip to the corner store, but if you're not wearing the right shoes, you could be in for a nasty slip.
