So it more or less becomes 'yardwork' rather than 'gardening' at this time of year.
And yardwork it was at the beginning of the week . . . Jeff and I busied ourselves under the autumn sun on Monday and Tuesday, getting things ready to sleep for the winter.

More juniper fronds into the wreath - the impatiens that were in the planter have been bagged and hung in the utility room to dry.
Some juniper has been put into the planter too - didn't really want to bring the planter itself into the room - the room is running out of room!
So I wrapped it up in the bottom 1/4 of a big garbage bag, then poked holes in the top so I could put my fronds in.

We have dumped some of the leaves into the fenced area - especially where I patched the grass.
I was going to put the 'almost fully mulched' leaves across the slope, but figured the leaves are going to fall in there anyway - about 10% of those leaves will still be there in spring - they will have all mulched into the soil.
So Jeff continued with the fencing right along to the end. More leaves will be falling in there - once they're all wet, they sure won't blow anywhere.

The forsythia tree is starting to turn yellow - I've kept it trimmed throughout the season so it's not dragging across the driveway this time.
A lot of those clippings were either poked into the fence areas to take root or they've been cut up and buried. Hopefully we'll have more forsythia coming through in spring and summer.

The junipers look a lot neater - I've been trimming and using the fronds to decorate other places, as you can see from the other pictures.
They might root - they might not root. But I do know they stay green all winter, from what I saw in the table sconces. The ones I transferred to the square just went brown. I might find a spot to put them all, once I'm ready to put other stuff in the containers. Maybe I'll do something on the island slope with the juniper pieces - let them go brown, dry right out, then trim them down.
More on that in spring.

I cleaned up some of this part of the driveway - scooped up leaves to throw into my fencing - but mostly? It was Jeff - he raked and raked and raked and raked all week. I only worked out there Monday and Tuesday, but he's been up and at 'em whenever possible.

That's the barrel dealt with - the portulaca and the impatiens have been cut up and left to dry in containers.
I'm thinking of putting the seeds right into that barrel come spring - see what happens.

And here are the table sconces - all of them have juniper pieces in them now.
I'm going to collect sprigs that have bright red berries on them - add them to the displays of juniper. I think that'll look nice 'round Santa Claus time.

Here's our girl at the end of it all, sleeping it off inside her cat house.

Yo Yo and I will be resting up till Monday when it's supposed to get a bit warmer. Right now, it's too cold and shivery for the ole bones. That rectangular thing with the comforter on to of it seems to be calling out for someone to occupy it a lot these days.
Good time to get caught up on reading and lit fits.

The weather forecast for the next 10 days is sensational!
It's going to 8 celsius today and staying around there for the weekend and throughout next week - oh, glory be!
I'm officially back on yardwork!
Pictures to come, for sure!

We've had grand weather but would you believe it's Sunday already and I haven't been out there?
I must be getting cured. I keep meaning to go out, but I end up napping in the afternoons.
Well, maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day.
There's nothing that absolutely 'has to be done' anyway.

When the muse says 'over', it's over - nothing left to do but turn it all over - winter
Thanks all for being here, folks.
